Our Story

MarketMatch Exchange began life in March, 2015 as Bid2Sell.com.au — an Australian idea that the fairest way to choose a selling agent is to let the evidence, not the brochure, do the talking. The company behind it, Bid2Sell Pty Ltd, was established on 25 March 2015.

The original Bid2Sell concept

Bid2Sell Pty Ltd — “an auction, comparison, matchmaking and cashback website for real estate, all rolled into one.”

The 2015 site, recreated

This is how bid2sell.com.au looked to a vendor in August 2015: one search box, the four-step promise across the top, and a single green button inviting agents and vendors to register.

The concept, in the words of the original pitch

Bid2Sell set out to reinvent a process that had barely changed in decades. Vendors listed their own property, agents competed for the right to sell it, and the vendor awarded the campaign to the agent they preferred once the online bidding round closed. Vendors saved money because agents offered discounts; agents saved time because every enquiry was a real, targeted lead. Registration was free on both sides, and agents were charged only on tangible results.

It was a genuinely win-win idea — but the incentive it created pushed agents to compete on price rather than on performance. The best local operator and the cheapest quote are rarely the same person, and a vendor who picks on fee alone can lose far more in the sale price than they ever saved in commission.

How it evolved to be more agent-friendly

MarketMatch Exchange keeps everything that worked about Bid2Sell — free for homeowners, genuinely relevant opportunities for professionals, one simple process — and replaces the fee auction with evidence. Instead of bidding down their commission, agents are matched to a property on what they have actually sold nearby: comparable homes, proximity, price band and how recently the campaign ran.

Free for vendors, and offices keep their own branded page, listings and enquiries. No pay-to-rank, ever.

Where that leaves us

Every office on the Exchange gets its own branded page, its live listings, its team and its enquiries — and the matching flow only ever recommends that office's agents when a visitor arrives through their site. Recommendations are for the vendor's consideration; they are not valuations, and no agent can buy a higher ranking.
